File pre-scanning error when creating project

Hi all

The following warning messages were generated when trying to import files into a new project:

"PreScanning failed to identify file type, the following messages were generated:

PreScanning Error The document is not bilingual since 'tw4winMark' style is not defined."

I am perplexed, since the file is  a normal .doc file, and it should not be bilingual as I have not yeat started translating.

I would appreciate any help.

Regards,

Suvi

  • Hello

First step: wrong forum, as this has nothing to do with MultiTerm.

Second step: open the file in Word, delete the mentioned style "tw4winMark" and try to open it again.

As soon this style is detected, Studio treats the file as bilingual and searches for corresponding content, which is not found.

  • Sorry about the wrong forum, I don't know how to change that at this stage.

I tried to delete the style, but the list of styles in Word does not include a style by that name.

  • Me neither, so we will stay in that forum.

If you cannot find the style, Studio should interpret the file as plain Word file. Could you please try to save the file as DOCX and try again? Should it not work, please send me the file to jerzy at czopik dot com for checking.

  • Thank you very much for the suggestion, saving in docx helped.

  • Hi, I moved the thread to the Studio forum.

Also...  you could check the box in the doc filetype in Studio and process the tw4winstyle as a monolingual file.

  • Which doc filetype box are you referring to? Where is it?

  • When creating a project this would be the doc/docx file type in Project Settings, accessible from the step where you add files (see the File Types button there in the tool bar, beside the "Add files" and "Add folder" and other buttons).

When using "Open file", it is situated in the Advanced options under File Types.

However, if your file did NOT contain any tw4winmark, this will have no effect.

  • I do not quite understand what you are getting at here. I found the file types button, but the styles listed for Word 2000-2003 not include the tw4winMark style, and the avaiable selections are to convert the style into an inline tag or a structure  tag. There is no reference to monolingual/bilingual.

  • Would you examine more than just the style list in File Type, you would have found out, that the Common tab for both Word 2000-2003 and 2007-2010 does contain the setting "Process files with tw4winMark style".

  • I am still a bit confused. What does it actually mean if I select the box "process files with tw4winMark style" What is the meaning of the style?
