Software Localization Rates

Question

Hello, I need your advise because I would like to start working as a Freelance Translator. Could you please let me know which are the best rates for Software Localization from ENGLISH to ITALIAN languages: 
 
 1) A flat rate price for All SAP short text lines (1-255 characters) 
 2) Hourly rate for the translation of forms / long texts and for revisions 
 3) Word price for offline translations - (full word price)

I'm not a translator but I think you may be coming at this the wrong way. There are some good articles on the web on this topic which might be interesting for you:

I'd take a look at these and see if it helps you to shape a better way to tackle this rather than ask others for their rates. I think rates vary quite a bit and depend on things like language pairs, specialism, who your clients are, what you personally think you're worth etc. 
 
Always an interesting question though.
