TQA - can I remove penalties for auto propagation?

Dear community,

I'm new to this forum, so please accept my apologies if this is not the correct place to ask this type of question.

When we review with TQA and give penalties to a mistake, this penalty is automatically multiplied when the segment is autopropagated. Is there a way to avoid this from happening? We don't want to have our translator fail the TQA just because the segment that contains the mistake is repeated throughout the text. Ideally we only want this penalty on the first occurrence of the mistake.

Many thanks in advance for your advise!

Kind regards,

  • Hi ,

The functionality is as you have outlined and I'm currently not aware of a workaround other than a systematic approch in dealing with it, as follows:
You could consider using the advanced display filter to filter on repetitions (excluding first occurrences) for segments whose translation contains a TQA revision. This would filter the segments in question, allowing you to review and reassign the severity level (to a severity, whose penalty equals zero) for those TQA revisions specifically.

Possible feature -> future development / Ideas

The fact that auto-propagation is inheriting the revision containers is correct behavior, although, it would be a nice feature as you outlined, by way permitting the user to decide on the severity level that should be applied in those cases.

This could be seen by including a severity level in the metric model that has a penalty of zero, for the purpose of automatically assigning that value to translations that are auto-propagated.  This would most likely be managed/assigned with the addition of a new (to be defined) property in the Options>Editor>Auto-propagation settings.

In this case, when a segment is auto-propagated, it would inherit all the characteristics of the original TQA revision, with the exception of assigning the severity level indicated from the editor settings.

This feature has been discussed in the past and the usecase is very relevant; not sure on progress; more of a question for  and  :-)

    Ciao,
