SDL 2014 frequent crashes

Hello,

This is to report that I frequently experience Studio crashes in the following working configuration:

- I work in a shared network environment, on Windows 7 enterprise (version 6.1);

- The Studio version running on my computer is Studio 2014 SP2 - 11.2.4322.0

- I translate documents which are located on a network drive (let's call it "X:\") but I use translation memories which are located on another network drive (let's call it "Y:\"),

- My translation project is connected to a MultiTerm termbase which is server-based (GroupShare)

The crashes seem to happen when terminology recognition is activated and when entries that should be recovered by Studio are quite long. Also, Studio crashes when I try to click on the Termbase Viewer tab (see red arrow in the first image below).

How can I do to prevent these crashes? For the time being, the only way to prevent them is to deactivate term recognition but this is not a solution for me as I need to reuse/recover legacy terminology that is contained in my termbase.

Many thanks in advance for your feedback !

Best regards,

Carlos J. Llull

  • Hi Carlos,

    This is typically a communication error and could easily be caused by all the external locations you are using. But maybe try this. First of all make sure you are sing the latest versions as you are not:

    SDL Trados Studio 2014 SP2 - 11.2.4435.12
    SDL MultiTerm 2014 SP2 - 11.2.1379.0

    The try moving your X and Y resources local and see if you have this problem just using this and the GroupShare Server. If you still have this issue then what version of GroupShare are you trying to connect to?

    If you don't have this issue then I'd look at your two external drives.

    Regards
