Is it possible to use SDL Trados Studios files (TM files for example) in different kind of translation memory softwares? And if it is, which translation programs can you recommend?

    You can export TMs as TMX and these can be used in probably any translation software. The termbases can be converted to pretty much anything using the Glossary Converter so makes them available for probably any translation software, and the bilingual files (sdlxliff) are XLIFF compliant and can be opened by virtually any other translation software.

    Which software would I recommend? SDL Trados Studio 2017!

    You'll need this anyway to be able to use tools like the Glossary Converter and to create files in the appropriate formats to give to the user of another software.
