unable to open target text in Word

Question

I've saved my target text as a word doc in windows 2016 but am unable to open it - I get a "file damaged" notice. I've tried the open & repair function unsucessfully. I've retried the save target text as twice more without success. 
 Any suggestions?

Just to close this off and perhaps it will help others with a similar problem. 
 
 Resave the original DOC in a current version of Word 2016, but still as a DOC. 
 Perfect Match the file in Studio with the fully translated sdlxliff (if you don&rsquo;t have Professional then pre-translating from the TM would also work) 
 Save the target file 
 Open the target file and if you get any errors repair them 
 Save the file 
 
 That did the trick.

There are a lot of variables here... the problem could be the version of Studio you are using (you didn't tell us), it could be the version of Word.
