Project file "Last Changed" Time-Stamp is not correct

Hello experts,

In the "detailed view" under the "List of project files" in Trados, the "Last changed" time-stamp for individual files doesn't seem to be correct.

For example, I have a project with 37 files, I worked on some of them on the 16.03.2017 and on some I worked on the 16th as well as on the 17.03.2017.

But the "Last changed" time-stamp on files which I definitely also edited on the 17.03.2017 is showing the wrong date and time (e.g. 16.03.2017 12:29:09).

How is the "Last changed" time-stamp updated in Trados?

I hope that it is "just" a time-stamp update issue and has no effect on the file contents update.

Kindly advice if I need to change any settings in Trados for correct time stamp.

By the way, I am using SDL Trados 2017.

Thanks and best regards

Shyam Gupta

  • Thi sseems to have something to do with the fact that some information is saved only when Studio is shut down, or when the project is removed from the list, etc.

Studio obviously 'caches' some information in memory only and doesn't update it in the project file until 'it has to'.

I see this behavior typically in this scenario:

    • I create project on my local disk, pretranslate files, analyze, blablabla...
    • I create translation packages
    • now I even set different project as active (I keep the sample project for this purpose, since unlike good old Trados Synergy, Studio doesn't allow user to select NONE project as active :( :( :(... one can achieve this state only by removing active project from list) in a hope that Studio will flush all info to the project file
    • now I copy the entire project structure to server to keep a backup

And when I then close Studio and compare the local project file and the server copy, I see some info about the project packages creation task changed in the local file... something like from "in progress" to "finished".
