How can I change the source text formatting to client specified formatting in target segment?

Dear Studio 2017 users, 
 This is the issue I experienced when working in a recent project where the client wants to use plain text in target language for italic text in source language. 
 I thought it would be an easy task, but it turns out to be an impossible task in Studio and I ended up leaving a note for the client to make the change during DTP. 
 Is there a way to do this within Studio that I wasn't aware of?

Change the view in Studio to tags only - so you will see how the text is formatted. But indeed, it will certainly not everywhere be possible to remove the formatting, especially if whole segments are italic. So asking the customer to remove italic alltogether in the final Word file is the best option. In Word this is just a single search&replace operation, so it won't even take much time.

Hi Chunyi, 
 If your example file is representative of the problem then Italic has been applied to the whole segment. So Studio moves this external and you can see it, and remove it, if you show All Content with the display filter: 
 
 In a large file with lots of these this is going to be painful as you can only do one segment at a time manually. But you could resort to regex in the sdlxliff again, but I think this could also be a little messy. The easiest solution by far is to correct the source.

 Keep in mind however that this is only good for files formatted as your example file. Try this one:

 Here I removed your text, modified the underlying style and then added the text back in again. If the italic is controlled this way then you have the situation Jerzy described and the only resolution is to deal with it in the source, or in the target file. 
 It helps to try and understand how tags get into the files in the first place because then you'll have a better understanding of how to deal with them. Studio just reports what it sees.
