Every time I try to update my translation memories I get the following warning once complete: no translation memories found to update for language pair German ->English (United Kingdom). This even though I have added translation memories and termbases.

    Hello Jo,

First possibility: Do you have exactly the same language definitions for source and target in your xliff and your tm? This means for German, or de-DE or de-CH or de-AT and for English en-GB. If this isn't the case you won't be able to update your main translation memory.

second possibility: did you try the update in the below way via batch task?

To be able to do this, you have to attach the TMs you want to update to your project in the following way:

Did you check, if your tm is enabled ? If the tm has exactly the same language definitions you have to attach it via add TM, if the languages are the same but the cultural definitions (i.e. DE, CH or AT) are different, you have to attach your tm via add any tm and naturally also to check the appropriate box.

Do these answers give a hint?

    Best regards
