In Studio 2015 and earlier, widened (or narrowed) letter spacing in Word documents (Under "Font (or letter type) | Advanced") was always preserved. But in 2017, it is always ignored, meaning that it has to be manually reapplied to the target document. Might there be a setting (that I obviously have not found) to enforce such spacing? As I mentioned, in Studio 2015 and earlier, the behaviour was correct.

I then went back to look at all of these and interestingly none of them have the ability, in the case of memoQ and DVX to change the setting to handle this advanced font setting (at least I could not find it), and memsource had no ability to "correct" the spacing if this is what you wanted to achieve. My guess is the plan would be to use something like codezapper to remove them before translating perhaps?
