Source and target language in the same file

Question

Hello everybody! In a file containing some parts in the source language and some parts in the target language, can I decide to exclude the segments that are already in the target language? And can I also have a report of the word count for both languages in the source text?

Do you have the source file or do you want to do this in the SDLXLIFF? 
 
What is the source file? 
 
How is the text organised? Is it in columns; is it source/target in one sentence; is it a mixture of source and already translated text? Is there somewhay if being able to select all the translated text in the source file? 
 
There are always ways to handle this kind of thing but the method will depend on what you have to start with.
