XML error. "There is an unclosed literal string"

Question

I was wondering if you could help with Trados 2017. It’s very urgent. For some reason the tool won’t open due some error – see below. This unfortunately leaves me completely helpless for now as I am not able to process files for quoting or do anything. I am very surprised that tool like this would not be able to handle some internal error and instead of ignoring project that might be corrupted – it just doesn‘t open at all. Can you please advise urgently what can I do in this case as I really need a workable trados version asap.

The error message suggests that there is a problem with the sdlproj file itself. Have you looked at this to see if it's truncated? 
 
If the sdlxliff files from the original project are ok you have a few options perhaps. 
 
1. Recreate the project from the source files and replace the sdlxliff files in the new project with the ones from the original, or 
2. Recreate the project and pretranslate from your TM
