Cannot create MultiTerm 2017 termbase

Whenever I try to create new termbase I keep getting an error message (termbase cannot be created).

Also, I cannot open termbases created in MultiTerm 2015 (termbases not supported).

OS: Windows 7 German

All previous answers to similar issues are to no avail.

  • Hi ,

If all the previous answers were no good we might be stuck ;-) But then I don't know which ones you tried? Can you first confirm that you are using these versions of Studio and MultiTerm please?

    SDL Trados Studio 2017 - 14.0.5821.4
    SDL MultiTerm 2017 - 14.0.2165.2

    Thank you

    Paul

  • Hi,

The problem that (some) termbases created in MultiTerm 2015 are not being accepted by 2017 has existed ever since .
But the problem that I cannot create any new termbase is new.
    Installed versions: Studio 2017 - 14.0.5821.4
    MultiTerm 2017 - 14.0.2165.2
Please send me a full working installation package. I do not want to fiddle around in my installed files for fear to create even more mess.

    Thanks.
  • Hi Marlen,

If I send you an installation package it will be exactly the same as the one you downloaded, there is no other installation package. If you don't wish to fiddle around then please do the following for a clean reinstall.

    1. Uninstall Studio (this contains Multiterm components)
    2. Uninstall MultiTerm

Now manually delete these folders if they are still there (back up your TMs, Termbases, AutoSuggest Dictionaries and Projects first in case you make a mistake, although you should not affect them with these actions):

    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLTradosStudio2017\
    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLMultiTermDesktop2017\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm14\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm14\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm14\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Studio 2017\Project Templates\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Studio 2017\Projects\projects.xml

Then reinstall. Studio first and then MultiTerm. You will have to open your projects again as they will have disappeared from your projects list, but they won't be deleted. You could avoid that by not deleting in this step:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Studio 2017\Projects\projects.xml

But to be completely clean I'd do them all.

If you still have problems after this I'd recommend you log a ticket with support so an engineer can look at this for you. This is clearly an installation problemsand for licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help.
