Do I need an update?

Hello,

I have a problem with my studio 2014. When opening my new assignments I get a message: "This file was created using a file type definition that does not exist on your system (WordprocessingML v.2). The following functionality will be restricted or unavailable: - savins -verification - QuickTags - Preview"

Do I need an update, or can someone please help with this?

  • Hi Tia,

Are the original documents in Word? I am pretty sure that 'WordprocessingML v.2' applies to the more recent version/s of Word.

If so, it is a later version of Word than was current when Studio 2014 was launched.

If the client only required a Word document from you:
The easiest solution would be to open the original document in Word (if you have it) and save it as a Word version between Word 2000 and 2013 (File>Save as).
The filetype required will then already be available in Studio 2014.
Then you can create a new project using the components (reference files, TM, TB) of the original project.

    OR
If the client requires a return package from you, or if you do not have an original Word document to work with, ask them to do the above each time they send you a project.

Similar principles would apply to other document formats of course.

    Hope this helps,
    All the best,
    Alison
