Enter source and target texts into editor from Word documents for review in Studio?

Hello all!

I am new here and hope I am in the right place to ask this question. I have poked around some and do not think this question has been addressed. I was sent a proofreading project, which included two Word files. The project turned into proofreading and re-translating with a little additional translation of segments that were either added later or left out by the original translator.

It would be handy if it were possible to open a translation file in which I could add the original as the source and the other Word document as the target text and then just edit, correct, and add as necessary in the editor pane. Is there an easy way to do this? I have Studio 2014.

I started by entering both documents with the thought of aligning them. Will that work? If I then open the original file to translate, will the source text appear in the editor pane?

It is being a bit of a tedious process and I hope that someone might know of an easier way - or perhaps offer confirmation that this is likely to work.

Thanks for any help!

You already found the best way to do this and that is to align the files and add the contents to a TM, then open the source file, pretranslate from the TM and correct as needed.  Finally saving the edited target file for your client.

Hopefully you have 2014 SP1 at least and therefore have the alignment editor, but that is going to be your best bet I think.
