Exporting ONLY Approved Translations

Question

Is there any way to export a version of my file containing ONLY translations marked approved? (If a cell is not marked "Translation Approved" I want it to be excluded from the exported file.) 
 I need to make a partial delivery of localized material while some of the file (very large) is still being translated. 
 Due to the size of the file, manually isolating translated sections is not feasible.

Of course... I did say "if you wish to return the bilingual file". This is essentially extracting the parts you want and this means it will no longer be possible to create a formatted target file with this. You can only return a bilingual file (sdlxliff) that could be used to update a TM perhaps. 
 
You can export it for external review if you like and that might be useful for you? But you cannot export a bit of the final target file... it's all or nothing because we can't put the file back together otherwise. 
 
Maybe it would be helpful to know exactly what it is you are trying to achieve?

 Well, what do you want to do with this? All you told us is you want to send completed translations back to your client. So I assumed they had Studio and could use this to update a TM. 
 Perhaps the "Export for External Review" from the split file is more useful? They can have a word file with source and target in it for review like that. You can then use their corrections to update your TM and then use that to correct your actual translation. 
 It's going to be a little bit of a hack because you are trying to split up the file rather than send them the full file and ask them to look at the translated only. Why can't you use the "Export for external review" on the full file as the segments that are approved can be coloured differently. This would make more sense because not only will they have the context of the rest of the source text but you can bring this back in and update the translation you are working on in one go.

 ok - understand you now. This is not going to be possible to export a target file that only contains finalised translations, at least not straight out of Studio as you will always get what's in the target or a copy of the source. I do think it would be useful to be able to export blanks where the target is but it won't work that way at the moment. 
 I can't think of an easy way to do this at the moment, although I guess what you could do is clear the draft translations from the non-approved and then pseudotranslate using "$$$$", this might give you what you need. You can export the target file and then remove the pseudotranslated strings easily enough in the excel file. I ran a quick test and all approved translations will be unaffected by the pseudotranslate task. 
 Perhaps someone else has an interesting approach to this problem?

Not with Excel... I think you may be over complicating the problem now. The pseudotranslate seems an easy solution the more I think about it. You could save a copy of your sdlxliff and apply the process to that and then it won't mess up any draft work you have on the go. You then filter on dollar symbols "_$$$$$$_" as opposed to "_DELETEME_". 
 
You can add comments, but not have them appear in the target file.
