figures German to English need to be confirmed always

Hello, I have a weird problem with figures when translating from German to English. Trados converts the dots to commas (as it should be), but I have to confirm every single 100% match figure. And after this, the subsequent figure in the next segment changes to a 99% match ...and so on. I haven't found anything in the settings, can anyone help me with this?

    Hi ,

    I'm a bit confused here. Why would you change a dot to a comma when going from German to English? The English decimal separator is a dot, not a comma. However, I don't have the problems you are having so I think this is probably related to the contents of your TM.

    Have to board a plane now so will come back to this...

    Hi Paul, thanks for taking a look right away at this!! I know that the English decimal separator is a dot.
    Sometimes I have to leave the dots/commas as they are, even if wrong in English (customer requires this to for data storage reasons=numbers remain the same in all languages). And sometimes I have to write them correctly (decimal separator as a dot and e.g. German 3.100 as 3,100 in English).
    After the update which arrived a couple of minutes ago the situation is better (thank you): now the program recognizes the numbers again and runs through as it used to do time ago, BUT it changes all the German commas to dots (which sometimes is good, sometimes not).

    Can you let me know where to look in the settings of the TM or language settings, I searched there, but couldn't find anything...? So I could change that specific setting when there is the need to do so -

    Hi ,

    The way numbers are handled in a TM is that Studio saves one number and that's it. It then uses this to recognise every other number it comes across. I reckon that if you have manged to get numbers with different formats in your TM then it's probably causing some confusion. One of the strengths of Studio can unfortunately be one if its weaknesses when it comes to handling numbers.

    Try this.

    1. Create a brand new TM so it's empty
    2. Add it to your project and disable the one that was already there
    3. Open one of your files
    4. Translate one of the numbers as required and autopropagate the rest
    5. Now lock them all
    6. Now disable this TM and enable the one you use for your translations

    Using the files you provided I could filter on the numbers quite easily and handle them all in one go with this expression:

    ^\d+\.\d+$

    This exercise does two things:

    1. Verifies that it can work for you, and
    2. Gives you a workaround with your existing TM

    You can then look through your TM and clean it up a little perhaps to remove the number only segments in there that might have the wrong data.

    Perhaps this will help a little.
