Dealing with wrongly added dependency file

If a translator gets the message "Dependency file not found" and looks for the file to be inserted and accidentally inserts the wrong file, the translator does not seem to have the possibility to correct this issue, unless he edits the SDLXLIFF file in a text editor (<reference><external-file href="file://FILENAME.pptx" uid="inputfile"/></reference>) or he uses the trick of erasing the dependency file from the TEMP folder while having the SDLXLIFF file opened in the SDL Trados Studio editor and then resaving the SDLXLIFF file back to the harddisk.

I am wondering whether there is a plugin that will remove the dependency file of an SDLXLIFF file in such cases.
Otherwise - when trying to generate the target translation - the translator is confronted with an error message that does not clearly tell him that he made a mistake when inserting the dependency file.
Error messages might be like this:

"Failed to save target content: Could not find file 'C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\SDLTempFileManager\3hvhbu4e.i1g\FILENAME.pptx\ppt\slides\slide10.xml'."

"Failed to save target content: Could not find file 'C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\SDLTempFileManager\zgspmsmz.1ly\FILENAME.pptx\ppt\slideMasters\slideMaster2.xml'."

Some kind of double-check for inserted dependency files would also be a good idea for future versions of SDL Trados Studio.
