Error message while working on Excel: Failed to save target content: ‘Arial’ is an unexpected token. Expecting white space. Line 1, position, 1090.

I am working in Trados Studio 2015.

I am translating a website on an Excel spreadsheet and I am getting this error when I try to do a Save Target as.

Failed to save target content: ‘Arial’ is an unexpected token. Expecting white space. Line 1, position, 1090.

Any idea how to fix this? I already tried the answers provided to other members.

Thanks

  • Hi ,

I think I've seen this before and the problem is that you probably have a duplicate Arial font in your Excel file (I say duplicate but there will be a slight difference in the name). Take a look at the source file and check the list of fonts. If you can find the duplicate then you select the text using it and change it to use the proper Arial font.

If you have lots of fonts being used in the source then this can get a little tricky, but you can still do this by splitting the file up to find the offending parts.

  • You did not state your Studio version. In Studio 2017 using the Excel 2007-2016 file type solved such problem a colleague of mine has had recently.
But in general the problem can also be caused by additional font tags, added to target. This happened to me however in case of Word files, not Excel.
