Adding files to existing project

Hi,

I am working on a large project, which I started with only part of the files. As the file come in from the client, I add to to the project with the add file button, do the batch tasks on the new document - but then can't open it for translation in the project (the option is greyed out). Only if I click on the file and then "open with Trados" can I open it in the editor, but then it opens outside to the project I want it to belong to - making things messy.

Any Ideas about how to open for translation and keep it part of the same project?

And is there anyway I can move one project into another (consolidate them)?

Thanks

  • The process isn’t just “useful”; it is the only possible way to add a file to a project. I insist that the whole process could be simplified.
    Actual process:
    1) Press “Add files” -> interface jumps to source language and you can choose a file you want to add
    2) Right click the added file (still with the interface in source language) select “Batch tasks” select “Convert to translatable format”, click “Next” in the popup and then “Finish”
    3) Richt click the converted file, select “copy to target language”, click “Next” and “Finish” in the popup
    4) Return to the target language (dropdown in the “Files” pane)
    5) Locate the file and start translating….

If this is productivity boosting then I’m an astronaut.
Couldn’t this really be automated into one single click ???

Kind regards to all “simple” translators
