"File already exists" error when creating a project & add a file

I need to create a project to get my work done, but I can't.

When I try to create a project and add a translatable file, SDL Studio refuses to complete the task and gives me a "file already exists" error.

Any help will be much appreciated.

My best guess is this is about some temporary files having failed to be deleted ... but I can't locate the temporary files or cache used by SDL.

If you know where they are , please let me know. I would be so grateful.

  • Can I ask if you're trying to add files to an existing project or creating the project from scratch? I don't know if this is relevant (more details of the steps you're following would help us understand the situation better), but if you remove a file from the target language view in a project, the file won't be removed from the source language view (and folder), and therefore attempting to add the same file again to the project will result in a message saying that the project already contains a file with that name. The solution for this is removing the file from the project from within the source language view.
