SDL Studio painfully slow working small xml files

Question

Hi, I use SDL Studio 2017 everyday with few issues. I am currently working on small xml files (700 - 2500 words) and now Studio is very sluggish. I have to wait from my typed words to appear on the screen and I am not a fast typer. Is there something I can turn off or do to make it quicker? Using 2 year old medium performance HP machine.

Few things to check or do: 
Start with resetting window layout from the View tab. 
Switch to tag view only - File -> Options -> Editor. 
Next check, if grammar checker is activated and shall be used as you type. 
If no relief, reset Studio by deleting the well known files from the AppData SDL folder. 
Still no joy, store TM locally, if stored elsewhere, deactivate "search both project and main translation memory". 
Maybe recreating the customized file type for XML will help - and then recreating the whole project. 
 
Check those options - hopefully one of these will help.

It's not the size but rather the content, and I don't mean just the number of words. Did you use a custom XML filetype for this or are you using the default? Can we see a sample of one of these files?

ok - so these are not XML files at all, they are xliff files from memoQ. You can either email to pfilkin@sdl.com or add them to the post if you don't mind them being public. You do this like this and you might have to zip the file first:
