Creating target file

I'm having troubles creating the target file. The original file is a scanned pdf. I created an individual document, translated, checked spelling and QA, saved target as and then I opened but an error message appeared. "can't open because there are problems with the content".

  • Hi ,

Scanned PDF files can be notoriously problematic because it depends how "clean" a job was made of the conversion. It makes sense to "cleanup" the DOCX/DOC file you are working on before you handle it in Studio. If the file you have is a PDF, and if you don't have another tool for PDF conversion, then do the following:

    1. Open the PDF in Studio as a single file project
    2. Look in the same folder as the PDF and you will find a DOCX in there now.
    3. Clean up the DOCX and translate the DOCX instead of the PDF

If the file is already a DOCX then clean up the DOCX a bit more before translating it.

By clean up I mean follow the advice in this blog entry from :

    signsandsymptomsoftranslation.com/.../

Or take a look at this app, transtools, that does a great job of cleaning up a docx ready for translation:

    appstore.sdl.com/.../
