Trados 2017 won't open more than 1 package at a time

In Trados 2014, you could open more than one translation package in the same program (several windows would open inside one program). Now, in 2017, when you select more than one package and you open them, a new program window is opened per package. This means that if you want to open 3 packages at the same time, you should have 3 licenses, etc. Is there a solution for this? Thanks!

  • Are you talking about opening projects from the Projects view ore are referring to DOUBLE CLICKING a project package? If you double click, and this opens then a new instance of Studio, so this is a registry problem in Windows. Unfortunately I do not have a solution for this problem. But you certainly can still open files from as many projects at one time as you like (provided your PC is performant enough) - this can be done by selecting several projects one by one from the projects view and opening the files from the files view.
To solve the problem now, just use the "Open package" function from the Home view in Studio.
But I really cannot confirm any problems in that respect - when I double click a package, it opens in Studio. When I then double click the next package, it opens in Studio too.
But if you really select more than one package at a time, right click those and select open - well, this is what I never tried, as I fail to see what would be the advantage of doing so?
