IDML files in Studio 2015: Index numbers at end of file

Hello:

I am quoting a large catalog that was created in InDesign. When I open the IDML file in Studio 2015, the content displays fine, but then at the end of the file there are an enormous number of source segments containing numbers and letters without any other content. This begins with a segment containing only the world Index, followed by hundreds of rows of numbers and letters:
Index
4V
65S
306
308

I have 12 IDML files in this catalog, and they all display these numbers and letters. Is there a way I can prep the files to get rid of these numerical rows? I searched and deleted all the Index markers from one of the files, but the hundreds of rows still remain. My main concern is analyzing these files--the word count is going to be enormous because all these unecessary rows will be counted. Any ideas?

Thanks, Scott
