"Index out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection." error message appears, when I enter a segment for translation.

This has happened many times i Studio 2015, and I have upgraded to Studio 2017, and the error persists.

The text here is in Danish, but it is the same as above.

This is very annoying, but what is worse, is that I can't use the shortcut Ctrl + 1 to insert the hits from Translation Results.

The only way to get the program to act normally again, is to close Trados Studio completely and start up once again.

Is there any explanation to this problem?

  • Hi ,

There are a few KB articles on this problem here:

    gateway.sdl.com/CommunitySearchResults

But I'm not sure any of them apply to you based on your description so far. But take a look... you never know.

In the meantime can you also share the full error stack with us? So not just a screenshot of the error message. Click on the little disk symbol and this will allow you to save the xml stack. Save it to your desktop and then post it as a file in here.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Thank you for your very fast aswer.

I have already searched the gateway and found - way too many - hits. Unfortunate I did not find any solution.

I di also click the disk icon, but the text behind were similar to the one on the error message, so nothing there either.

In case this is a persistent error, I hope for some SDL programmer to read here some day, to fix the error.
  • Are you sure there was no other information in the file? It would be very unusual not to see more below the message you have shown. Nobody can fix this without at least getting a clue from the full stack.

  • I am quite sure. Look for yourself

As told in my previous answer, there is no other information. Maybe someone from SDL should take a look at my screen over TeamViewer to realize the problem.

  • I can see that you are still not exposing the stack trace. Click on the message and it will expand.

However, if you just saved it to xml and posted the file then it would be much more helpful as it will be formatted nicely and we can read it all.

  • Hmm - I have made the changes manually to this segment, and now the error disappeared. I must wait till next time it appears.

Hopefully I will, at that time, click on the correct button to reveal the expanded error information.

Thank you for your help til now!
  • Well, I was lucky today. The error came back. Not exactly the same trigger, and actually I did not realize what and why.

But this time I remembered to expand the error message:

  • Hi  ,

I removed your error messages and replaced them with a copy of the stack trace saved as an xml file. Note the difference... takes up less space. it's easier to read, and we can copy paste the text. Probably easier for you to add too! All you need do is save the message by clicking on the blue disk symbol and then attach the file you get to your post. The forum automatically renders it like this.

I'm not a developer, but the message seems to be pointing to a problem with your TM windows so if you have not tried this yet can you first try a simple View -> Reset Window Layout.

If that doesn't help can you try a reset? Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

  • Thank you for your suggestion. I have tried to do a View -> Reset Window Layout, and now I will wait and see, if the error has disappeared.

This is not an error, that I can produce when I want to, but it happens now and then.

What you should know, is that I frequently work with 5-7 TM's - rather big ones - and it seems as if Studio doesn't handle them very well.

My laptop is quite new with 16 GB of RAM, and I never even get close to use 50% of them.

Surely this is another issue, that I maybe should open in another thread.

Not really.  Studio is a 32-bit application so it can't use more than 2-3 Gb RAM.
