An error occurred extracting the package. Wrong local header signature @3.

Hello, I get an error message with Studio 2015 on some packages (not all of them) when opening them: an error occurred extracting the package. Wrong local header signature @3. Has someone experienced the same problem please? Thanks

  • Hi Paul,
Well, thanks. Do you have any idea at which step of the Studio creation process this could happen because I have 2 clients who regularly send me corrupt packages, and I wish I could tell them.
    Thanks again,

  • Hi ,

I don't believe this happened in the Studio creation process at all. The package is just a zip file, so if you add a .zip to the end of the file after .sdlppx you shoud be able to open it in windows. In there you'll find the sdlxliff files, a TM, Termbase, AutoSuggest Dictionary perhaps (depending on how the package was created) and some metadata in the sdlproj file. So basically it's a zipped up project.

This file won't open even as a zip. I would think it happened in the process of moving the file from one system to another. I've seen corruption of files during email, especially from a MAC to a Windows system, but I have no idea what specifically causes it.

Perhaps you could try repairing it with winzip. I don't have this application but I found these articles which look interesting and possibly relevant:

    kb.winzip.com/.../

    kb.winzip.com/.../126

Alternatively I'd ask for the package to be sent again, and possibly recreated if they have the same issue and cannot open it as a zip at their end.

    Regards

    Paul
