Studio 2017 crashes very often

Hi,

Since I've been working with Studio 2017, my Trados has crashed maybe 10 times more than in my whole translator career before! I'm typing and suddenly it disappears and Windows shows the message "Windows has found a problem..." or something like that. I'm not sure but it seems that it has to do with big files (>10,000 words). On some days, Trados crashes even several times on the same day! This is really frustrating!!! I've already set auto-save down to 5 minutes but it's a mess anyway! I have to start Studio again, open the file to translate (and Studio 2017 is veeeery slow opening a project, compared to 2014!). And after a crash I can practically forget about Trados' word count (translated/non-translated words, percentage). It displays anything, and I can't rely on it, thus, not estimate when I will finish! :-(

Does anybody have a solution for this? A client of mine told me she has the same problem with 2017! So, surely I'm not the only one...

I'm running it on Windows 7 Ultimate. Processor Intel i7 and 8 GB of memory.

Thank you in advance!

Markus

  • It seems that I don't have this Web Lookup plugin - at least it's not in the plugin list!
A colleague of yours, Andreea-Bianca, recommended me per mail to reset my settings according to the following article because I was so upset about that software that I wanted to downgrade to Studio 2014 where I NEVER had this problem: gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge
This helped for a while but I was too enthusiastic - after some weeks of smooth working Studio crashes again! For example, last Friday, it crashed about five times (on one day!!!). And sometimes, it wouldn't even open a file after re-starting. I had to "kill" it via Windows Task Manager and restart again!
As for your hint to put it on the whitelist... I did it with the app "SDL Trados Studio.exe", Multiterm and Multiterm Convert. Any other file or app I should add?

Thanks very much for any hint! This situation is really very frustrating... :-(
