Trados blocks or crashes at specific segments and does not recognize terms any more

Hi,

Each time I get to specific segments, Trados blocks. The first time I get a message saying Trados does not work anymore and that I will get a message when there is a solution. When I open Trados again, go back to this segment and save it, Trados blocks. I have to end the task in the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and open Trados again. Alternatively Trados just closes automatically when I enter this segment. It happens each time, so I have to skip those segments if I want to continue working.

It happened after translating a while in different texts (once segment 28+29, once 76+77 and 87+88).

MultiTerm does not recognize all the terms, allthough they are in the glossary. When I want to enter those unrecognized terms to MultiTerm, it says the entry already exists. Now, half an hour later, it does not recognize any terms anymore. I deleted the Termbase and added it again without result. The screenshot shows Termbase Search, but that was only at that moment, I do use Term Recognition.

I wanted to update, but it says the version is up to date. Restarting the computer does not help. I'm using Windows 10. Sorry for adding two themes at a time, but I thought there might be a connection.

I hope someone can help,

Katrien

The TMs and Termbases are not new, I've been working with them for a few years without a problem.

But can you test with a new one please?  I wanted to see whether there might be some content in there that could be causing the issue... or at least rule this out.

I tested your file but unfortunately cannot reproduce this at all, so we are looking at something in your environment.

Incidentally... just wondered if you knew how to hide the blue text to save having to deal with it?  See attached:

Let me know about your TM anyway, then we can think about what to try next.

    Regards

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for your quick reply. I decided to try to manage the deadline first with workarounds.

Today no new segments were effected, but the existing broken segments let the computer crash almost every time I entered them.

And the Termbase sometimes showed a few entries of my main Termbase, sometimes none. It did seem to show alle the entries of a different Termbase. If I try to add a new entry, an error message pops up. (see 2nd screenshot)

As a test I started a new project without any TM and added the source text again. The same problem appeared in the same segment again. And the Termbase had the same problem as before as well. Also remarkable: when I then added the TM, which should contain the whole translation, no translations appeared.

Even if I open old texts, the Termbase only shows part of the entries. I added a screenshot of the Termbase.

(About the blue text: I think something went wrong adding the link - it gave me my source text again)

Thanks Paul (hope you get paid for this :-))

  • Hm, I thought I replied to your feedback last week, but something seems to have gone wrong.

The problem with segments blocking did not appear any more the last few days, but I still have problems with my main Termbase (cosmetics).

Only some of the terms are recognized (see example "Zutaten" in screenshot) and I cannot add new entries (screenshot addes as well). It does work with other Termbases, so there must be a problem with this specific Termbase.

    Kind regards,

    Katrien
