How to find the source file based on TM segments?

Question

I have thousands of .docx and .sdlxliff files stored for a client. All of them are also represented in the translation memory. However, sometimes I would like to find the source file from which the translation memory segment is taken from. I only see the date and user who confirmed the segment at the bottom right of the TM window. Opening all the files is not an option.

This information is not stored as metadata on the TM by default so you have two sensible options I think: 
 
1. Create a field in your TM that you update as you translate each file. You add the name of the file to each translation 
 
or (as 1. is quite manual and easy to forget) 
 
2. Use the RecordSourceTU app from the appstore - appstore.sdl.com/.../
