The translation memory data file is corrupt

Question

Another problem has come across for several months. I was observing the problem and trying to find a solution myself. I had exported the "sound" translation memory in a .txt file to import it into a new TM. I did this several times. However, since I'm using Trados Studio 2017 this same TM (even after having imported it into a new one) will corrupt after only some usages. 
 I also used the "TM Repair" which seems to be no help at all. 
 Sometimes I'm really wondering why I'm using Trados Studio 2017 because everything was fine before.

I think the first to do to get Studio running would be a RESET- 
 
Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio: 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0 
 
This normally resolves cases where Studio wont open.

I wasn't blaming you at all, sorry if you find my question offensive. My problem is that the process you describe is something that thousands of users do every day and don't have this problem, so we need a little help if we are going to figure out why this is a problem for you. I'm sure you are not doing anything wrong, but something is clearly causing this unusual issue to occur. So it would be helpful to have this from you perhaps? 
 
- a TM you have created that subsequently corrupts (copy before you start to document the process) 
- test file you translate 
- how you translate it? So with what resources.... using MT, copy paste from somewhere else, just type the translation etc? 
- where is the TM situated? On an external drive, locally, in the cloud? 
 
If I just create a TM and translate files my TM is not going to corrupt. If this was a problem with Studio 2017 in general I am sure we would be seeing this reported everywhere so we do need a little help to try and isolate why this happens for you.

Can you help with a little more information? 
 
- where do you store your TMs? 
- do you share them with other users in realtime? 
- can you try upgrading them and see if working with them as upgraded TMs is more robust?

 I know you said you didn't have problems in the past, but I do think this is most likely source of your problems. If you store your TMs in a location like this then it's going to be continually backing itself every time you make a change by confirming segments, editing TUs etc. If there are any lags due to connectivity, particularly as the TM gets larger over time, then there is a risk of corruption. 
 You are working with a File-based TM so I would recommend that you move them to your local drive and see how that goes for a while. You can run a backup into Google Drive when you finish for the day, or over night when you are not working.
