Cannot select "default" settings for Custom Language Fonts

I noticed that if you select "default" under Custom Language Fonts for both Japanese or English (United States) you cannot hit the OK or Cancel buttons.
However, when I tried German (Germany), selecting "default" was possible. This behavior seems odd to me, can everyone select "default" for their languages?
Also, on my PC, even if you change the language, the settings always changes back to "Afar (Dijibouti)", I was wondering if this is normal behavior.

  • PS: I suggested that as an answer but it's also a question... Why does one have to click out of then back into the Font Adaptation window to be able to save a change back to default font (or a simple navigation away from and back to default within the fonts list)?

  • Hi Alison,

    >OK and Cancel do not work until you click into a different item on the Editor list then click back to Font Adaptation and then it works fine.
Ah ic, interesting that you have to do that, but thanks it works now!

    >Secondly, the list just returns to "Afar (Dijibouti)" because it's the first language in the alphabet so it's just going 'to the top of the page'.
Thanks, I suspected that was the case. However from a usability standpoint I don't want to select the language from the dropdown each time. Will consider suggesting these for ideas.

    Thanks again

  • Hi Jesse,

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, have had visitors today.

I don't think that it is by design that 'OK and Cancel do not work until you click into a different item on the Editor list then click back to Font Adaptation'. I am sure this is an unintentional 'feature' [;)]

Re: 'I don't want to select the language from the dropdown each time':
If someone is using a lot of different languages, a project manager for example, they may decide to set a different font for some or all of those languages to improve readability for example. Once they'd selected a font, it would stay set until they changed it of course.

I guess Font Adaptation could be set so that it returned to the last language set in the list when opened again but that would only really be useful if one only had one language set to a font other than default and wanted to change that font frequently. The font set for a language stays set until one opens Font Adaptation and changes it to a different/the default font.

    What do you think?
