Service ‘Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagement’ could not be started - error with Studio 2017

Question

Has anyone encountered this error with Studio 2017 yet? (I know it's come up with earlier versions). Is there a way to fix it or is it just a question of uninstalling and reinstalling?

I've just had this problem with Studio 2017. After much gnashing of teeth and several failed attempts, I was able to fix it using Paul's suggestions in this thread:
