For a client I have simple maintenance items list, containing recurring descriptions and codes made of a combination of letters and numbers.

Is there a simple way to make sure that all the codes are recognized without them being counted as fuzzy matches (but as full reps).

  • You don't state the version of your software, but starting from 2014 (methinks, it could also have been 2015) there is alphanumeric recognition integrated. So what you need is just to switch this on in your TM and project settings, then such parts should be recognized as repetitions.
You can also try to use this regex (case sensitive) to filter them all out and confirm in one go: ^[-\p{Lu}0-9]*$

  • Thank you Jerzy, I work with Studio 2017 and I know that there should be a possibility but never figured out how, how should I use the regex, could you explain a bit further? Sounds interesting!
  • For Regex:

Go to Review tab, locate the display filter, select "case sensitive", enter the regex in the filter and press enter.

This should show only alphanumeric segments. You can now select them, copy source to target and confirm in one go.

  • Thank you Jerzy, works perfect! Do you know if there is an overview of all Regex options?
  • The best info source is www.regular-expressions.info/ and the RegexBuddy, a small program from the author of this website (AFAIK). If you're from Germany, the BDÜ will certainly again offer a Regex seminar/webinar i the future (next year most probably).

  • Thank you Jerzy, based in the Netherlands, but I will dive into it!
