Does Trados Starter Edition 2017 allow the creation of a TM from an two-column (source-target) Excel file?

Dear all, 
 As a user of Trados Studio 2017, Starter Edition , I know that this software is supposed to be able to create a TM from "files" as show here www.sdl.com/.../editions.html , but when I try to do it using an Excel file, I cannot because Excel does not appear as a selectable file type. I followed the below path: 
 New > Create New Translation Memory > Create from > Browse. And here, only .sdltm files can be selected. 
 Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

Hi Olivier Vera 
 In the STARTER version, you are only able to create a TM from the actual files you are working on in Studio (Editor mode) 
 - But NOT create a TM from existing bilingual files as in the case as this would constitute Alignment based TM Creation

the functionality you need is only available in FREELANCE versions or higher. 
 Maybe as you have been translating for so many years- the freelance version would be of great benefit to you???
