SDL Trados Studio 2014 + MS Office 2010: No images in the preview mode

Hi, everyone,

My problem is that the Preview and Real-time Preview don't work properly. The preview mode displays the text, but won’t show any images, which makes it pretty useless. I faced this after having all the software on my PC reinstalled. I mean, the same SDL package worked perfectly well with the previous MS Office package (I don’t remember which version that was, 2007, probably), but now with the current Word 2010, there are no images in the preview. As a possible workaround solution, I converted the original DOCX file into PDF, created a new project, and the images came into being. That gave me hope, but then emerged a mysterious error which prohibited me from saving the target file. In other words, this method proved to be a bad one.

I would genuinely appreciate any help.

  • Hi, Paul,

    Thank you for your reply.

I should have clarified that the purpose of this installation was to ensure that there were no pirated files or counterfeit software on my PC. I was told to bring my PC to our administrator, and then he formatted the drive and installed all the software which I'm allowed to use.

By the way, I have just tried saving a Word file as '.doc', and it worked. Now I can see the images in the Real-time Preview, but, again, I’m not sure if it’s an adequate solution. I fear that I might have some other problems if I stick to this method.

‘Neither of these products are supported…’ Do you mean that SDL Trados Studio 2014 is not supported anymore? Well, that’s really surprising.

    Best regards,

    Pavel
