Analysis with locked segments vs. locked segments excluded

These are two analysis done on the same project in the same version of Trados. The question is why is there a variance between the word counts for unlocked segments when performing both analyses (with and without excluding the locked segments.) Is it because, if you don't clarify, Trados still analyzes locked segments when performing an analysis? I’m trying to explain this to a client. Thank you very much for your time!

  • I know I'm really late answering this post, but could it be that "Report internal fuzzy match leverage" was turned ON?  That might explain getting lower leverage when you exclude the locked segments.  However, in some cases, you get higher leverage, and that is weird.  I don't know why that other customer felt the need to be so sarcastic.  Some of us like to understand how things are calculated and know that 2 analysis done on different weather days give you the same results. It's called having trust in the tools and the processes.

    A related issue is that 7657   +   16662 (locked 100%)    +   3579 (locked 101%)  = 27898 and not 27961, so 63 words suddenly disappeared from the total word count

So, is it the end of the world, no, but I too would like to understand...
