Studio 2017 SR1 Edit Translation Unit does not work

When translating with the edit window open, it has been my practice to right-click and edit or delete translation units displayed in the Translation Results window as I notice they need to be changed. After installing SR1, this functionality does not work correctly. I can right-click, open, and edit the TU, but the changes are not saved. Similarly, I can right-click and click "Delete TU", but the TU is not deleted. This is a serious loss of functionality! Can it be fixed easily?

UPDATE: The error is showing itself to be conditional - I can open a TU for editing, but the only thing that works is pasting in a complete new segment. If I actually edit the segment, it doesn't get accepted.

  • Hi ,

I spent 10 mins or so trying different scenarios and I cannot reproduce this at all. Please can you give me some steps, remembering that I need to be able to reproduce exactly your scenario without seeing what you are doing, and then I'll be happy to try again.

Perhaps also make sure you explain how you are verifying this.

    Thanks

    Paul

  • Hi, Paul,
    Here's exactly what I do:
    1. Open a document for translation that has many 100% matches.
    2. Using an existing TM with the matches in it, which need to be updated with small changes.
    3. Click into a translation unit with 95%+ or 100% match.
    4. TM suggests matches in the TM window.
    5. Right-click on the TU suggested by the TM, click Edit or Delete
--When I click Delete, the TU reappears in the suggestion window, thus seems not to be deleted. (Sometimes it works correctly.)
--When I click Edit, two options
    1. Paste in new translation from other source and save. This often works, but not always.
    2. Edit translation manually and save. This usually does NOT work - Trados reopens the old, un-edited version in the suggestion window.

I will be working on another document this afternoon and will see if I can't do screen captures, if you like.
