Analysis Report XLSX Export not printing properly.

Hi,

I've found after updating to Studio 2017 SR1 that the XLSX export of analysis reports looks a bit different compared to the last version. The additional column for Repaired words is there, but in adding that other formatting changes have been made which made printing the report out a bit problematic.

Firstly, the entire table in the analysis is now all set as font size 10 (Most of it was in size 8 previously). The indentations of the cells are all a bit strange too. The end results means that the entire table is now longer, so printing fitting to a single A4 sheet renders the text tiny and some of the cells aren't big enough for the output (such as the percent column) so the actual content doesn't display, showing ### characters instead. If I revert the formatting back to how it was in the previous version of Studio, even with the additional column, the printout works fine.

I understand that this is a fairly small issue (no pun intended) but it is quite annoying as we are often required to print out analysis reports in this format and it seems a strange decision to have tweaked the formatting of these exports beyond the addition of the new column. Was this intentional or should I be logging it as a bug?

  • Hi Darren - thanks for your feedback. This was part of the rebranding and refresh exercise for the Studio user interface in SR1. So you would prefer if we continue with the 8 point formatting, or is there more to it? I am not sure if I fully understand "formatting back to how it was in the previous versions". Many thanks in advance, Daniel

  • Hi Daniel and Paul, thanks for your responses.

It's not specifically that I have a problem with the font sizes, it's just the fact that the addition of the extra column, plus the additional increase in font sizes seems to be the cause of the issue I mention when we attempt to print analysis reports that have been exported to Excel format.

    To provide more clarity:

If I export an analysis report to excel in Studio 2017 prior to the SR1 patch. Open it in Excel, and then print it, scaling it to 'fit sheet on one page', the output looks like this:

So it fits neatly on a single sheet, and all the numbers display correctly. If I try to do the same thing in SR, the output when printed looks like this:

So, we get some cells not displaying numbers properly (because the columns are too tight), and some strange formatting for the text, indented columns, alignments, etc.

We regularly export these reports to excel so that non-studio users can use them both digitally and also to print them out for records, which is why we use this method of generating them. I mentioned the reduction in font size simply because we found that if we took the new report and reduced the font size back down to what it was previously and tidied it up a bit manually, the printing worked again, so it is my assumption that this and the additional column is causing this issue.
