URGENT: imported Studio package disapppeared

I need urgent help: when I tried to continue my translation from an imported package, the whole package had disappeared. (Incidentally, some files that I deleted from the projects view had reappeared.) When I tried to reimport, the program said that I have already imported the package. I'm afraid that if I reimport I will use everything I have translated so far (40% of more than 4000 words).

The program is Trados 2011 and my OS is Windows 7.

I would appreciate any help.

Regards,

Suvi

  • Well, if the program says the package has been imported, than it must be listed somewhere in the Projects view screen of Studio.

Make sure you have chosen to show all projects and not just finished or just unfinished and so on.

Only in case you do NOT find the project in the Projects view, close Studio and go to C:\Users\your username\Documents\Studio 2011\Projects and rename the Projects.xml to Projects.xm_

Start Studio and receive the package again, however put it in a different folder. Now copy the TM from the TM folder of the previous package to the new one, Do the same for the SDLXLIFF from the target folder.

Be aware, that now you will not have all other projects listed in the Projects view. To get them back there double click the *.sdlproj file in the project folder for all the projects you need to have listed there.

  • The message about an already imported package was my mistake: it referred to another project that I at first accidentally tried to reimport.

But thank you for a quick response and helpful reply: I managed to salvage my translation. I cut corners a bit though: I simply reopened the package in another folder and replaced the tm and xliff files as instructed. I avoided renaming the Projects.xml, as I did not quite understand how to make the projects reappear in the projects view.

    Thanks again.

I am only afraid that this will happen again, as the cause of the error is not clear...
