Studio 2017 SR1 - current status?

Sorry to ask such a seemingly 'negative' question, but... I have read in several places (here, ProZ, Yahoo) about problems after installing SR1, some more severe than others. I haven't dared install it yet. The original 2017 installed and worked out 'of the box' with no problem. As a rule, I change very little from the default set up, although I do keep my projects and resources in locations different from the Studio defaults.

Please can anyone tell me the current status? Is it stable? What are the issues/conflicts? There was a link in a Yahoo posting to an SDL Knowledgebase or Community page, but it returned 'Page not found'.

    Hi ,

    Not a negative question... a sensible, logical one!

    It is interesting how many problems folk have been having since the launch of SR1, that we who beta tested several builds of it did not have with the final build before launch. Some had serious problems with crashing at various stages but they were thoroughly investigated and resolved before SR1 was launched.

    I haven't seen any suggestion of why this should be though my guess is that we the beta testers tend to do stuff that regular users aren't so inclined to do, such as to run a Windows Repair after updates and other things, as suggested here:

    The Window repair especially is rather like servicing an engine, it keeps things running smoothly. It is preventative if done frequently rather than waiting for an issue to arise that requires it. Better to do it when you have time than to be up against a deadline with no time for finding solutions.

    Someone other than I will be better able to tell you if you can go ahead and install with no risk of the unfortunate issues that have been ocurring with SR1. What I can tell you is that an improved cumulative update was released today so if you do install SR1 then allow the cumulative update to install, you'll have a better chance of the software running smoothly for you.

    Especially if you reboot and run a Windows repair on Studio after that.
