Analyzing multiple projects at once

Hello, I have to compile a monthly report of my last 2 years of work (words translated, words proofread by month). My work is done 90% in Studio, so it would be awesome if I could use it for this task.

Usually, I just select multiple projects in the Project page and I get the total wordcount. However, every time that an Update is installed (about every 3 months) I lose all the projects in the Project page.

So, what I'd like to do is to load all of my Studio projects (*.sdlproj) I did in 2016 and in 2017. I tried to simply drag and drop the many *.sdlproj files but the application crashed. Is there a tool to do this?

Thank you in advance!

  • Hi Paola,

I don't have much to add to this thread... a little tricky without using the server solutions we have. But it did get me thinking about additional apps for the appstore. Might be good to have some things that did this:

    - allow you to select a folder and then pick the projects in that folder that you wanted to load into the Studio View, and then load them
    - an improved dashboard that could maintain some stats on words translated, by day/week/month, and by client... things like this

Might actually be two fairly simple things to do. Although I think you'd need an export feature on the dashboard to make sure you don't lose stuff through upgrading or removing projects.

    Regards

  • Thanks for chiming in, Paul! Glad to see you are always on the radar!

Why does Studio loses working languages and projects at every install? I have no other single software that loses all of its setting when it is updated.

Another thing that could be improved is that productivity app which has a timer to keep track of the time spent on a project. I tried it once but you have to click into the app menu (lower left side, select the project and hit play/pause every time you start/stop working on a project. For example - I have to reply to an email.... click, stop
    I resume translating... clic, start
I pick up the phone... clic, stop

Can't you simply make a timer that keeps going while 1) Studio is in foreground 2) the mouse pointer is moving?

    ---

    Anyway, thank you!
