Unanswered question: Updating TMs in Studio 2017 SR1 leaves hundreds of errors (TUs that didn't get imported)

Hello,

Just updating my TMs but the process left out several hundred TUs. I'm wondering why did certain TUs not get imported. I viewed the TMX error files in notepad to see what could be the problem but saw no reason why certain TU's weren't imported.

This is what it looks like after I process the TMs. Notice the errors.

Quickly solving this problem is important because I'm not the only person using these TMs and losing data will affect many people.

Best regards,

Keenan

  • Hi Keenan,

Did you use the option to export TUs with errors into separate TMX files? Those TMX files should then have details around the errors encountered. (From the above it seems you have used that option, but in that case each TU in every TMX file should have a comment in them like this: <!-- error: empty target --!> or similar.

    Thanks
    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

Yes, I viewed the tmx file in notepad (btw, any better way to view a tmx?) and could see where the problems were.

Here's a sampling from the error files.

Don't know what you could pick up from that... half code half japanese...

If you'd like to view the tmx files yourself, I'd be happy to share them with you via email.

If there was no way to fix this, I'd welcome ways to get those TUs back into each of their TMs that wouldn't require tedious copying and pasting.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Keenan - if you could provide me with your e-mail address in this thread, then I'll send you a quick e-mail and you could indeed send over the error TMX files. Thanks, Daniel
