When will SDL fix the "bugs" of the Service Release 1 (SR1) for SDL Trados Studio 2017?

The Service Release 1 (SR1) for SDL Trados Studio 2017 has several critical "bugs".

I uninstalled the "SDL Trados Studio 2017-SR1" and the "SDL MultiTerm 2017-SR1"(installed on Windows 10 64-bit) and reinstalled the previous versions - the SDL Trados Studio 2017-14.0.5746.0 and the SDL MultiTerm 2017-14.0.2094.0 (installed on Windows 10 64-bit) as a request from MultiLing Corporation-USA, as explained below:

MultiLing Corporation (USA) Vendor Services informed: "You are receiving this email because of your translation work for MultiLing. It has come to our attention that the Service Release 1 (SR1) for SDL Trados Studio 2017 has several bugs that create problems when working on projects. Some problems reported by the community are:

• Keyboard shortcuts no longer function for some users (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Y, Ctrl+T)

• Program responsiveness is quite inconsistent, often on the slower side.

• Termbase matching fails to produce results and sometimes produces an error message.

•Search and replace features inconsistent (Requires deleting some background files to fix).

• Some plugins may cease to function • Spell check not working with MS Word.

• Working with TMs is tricky unless they are updated.

Trados will produce a warning message to upgrade in a couple areas of the application. In light of this information, we ask that you delay installation of this upgrade as it causes compatibility issues with packages, termbases and TMs to not be recognized, etc. While each translator's working setup is different, in general we suggest that you wait for SDL to send out an SR1 patch before installing SR1. If you have already installed SR1, we suggest that you uninstall the new version and reinstall the previous version of SDL Trados Studio 2017. If issues related to SR1 will affect your work on a MultiLing project, please notify your translation coordinator. If you have any other problems with Trados, please contact SDL Support."

Question: When will SDL fix the above said "bugs" of the Service Release 1 (SR1) for SDL Trados Studio 2017?

Thank you very much for your kind attention

    In your points:

This is not an SR1 issue. There was a clash with shortcuts used by Polish translators in particular but this has been resolved already in the CU update that has already been released.

This statement is unqualified.  Some operations can take longer, such as Analyse, but these problems are remedied by deactivating some of the options:

    1. Deactivate the "lookahead" feature
    2. Deactivate Fragment Matching (activate after Analysis)

This is most likely resolved by deactivating lookahead as previously advised.

I'm only aware of SDL Analyse and this was resolved earlier today with an update to the app via the appstore.

I'm not aware of this one, but it doesn't sound like an SR1 issue.  Would be good to isolate and repeat.

What does this mean exactly?  You don't have to update them, but if you want to take advantage of fragment matching and match repair then it makes sense.

Not everything is a bug.  But we have released CU6 already and will issue more hotfixes as needed.

  • Dear Paul Filkin

I only placed the message (about the "bugs" of the "Service Release 1 (SR1) for SDL Trados Studio 2017) that was sent to me from the MultiLing Corporation-USA-Vendor Services, because I am a MultiLing Corporation's patent translator partner (freelance translator using SDL Trados Studio/SDL MultiTerm Desktop 2017).

I sent your answer to MultiLing Corporation-USA-Vendor Services and to the MultiLing Corporation Portuguese Team.

Thank you very much for your explanations and your very kind attention.
    Best regards,
