Studio 2017 SR1 Creates Incompatibility with Japanese Characters in File Paths on English System

After much trial and error and looking at a lot of solutions in these forums, I have discovered that SR1 for Studio 2017 further limits MultiTerm termbase paths.

If the paths (folder or file names) contain Japanese characters you will get a General Error trying to open them.

If you remove all Japanese characters, Studio will open these termbases.

This also affects Multiterm, attempts to open these termbases will result in the dreaded "incompatible version of Multiterm" error. Removing Japanese characters allows the newly restricted Multiterm to open the termbases.

This was clearly introduced with SR1, because I have been using such file paths for years without a problem.

Does anyone know a solution so I can still use file paths with Japanese characters in them?
