A file can't be added to the project folder twice in SDL Trados 2015.

I translated XML files on SDL Trados 2015. And sometimes to fix the elements in the filetype, I need to delete the file and then add it to the same folder again. But the file added to project can't apply the new element in the filetype properly. It seems the old copy can't be remove completely. And the new file with the same name can't be added in. Is there any solution?

  • I'm sorry to bother you all. I find the solution by myself now. I remove the bilingual files in the both the en-us an zh-cn files in the project file. Change the element setting in the filetype. And then reboot the computer. It works after the several steps.
  • I try to redo this operation, I failed. After removing the file from the project folder, and reboot the SW, then add the same file to this folder. I encounter the error message that the bilingual file is not exist when I run the prepare batch task. I think the handling logic of this task is wrong. In my mind, this task is to convert the source file to the bilingual file. It should convert the format of the file firstly and then check whether this bilingual file exists. After all, I can't find the solution. Is there anyone can solve this issue?
  • Considering the error message raise up by the system. I add some operations to make it work. The whole process is as follows:
    1. Create a temporary folder in the project folder tab, for example folder B.
    2. Add the file needing to be fixed in the temporary folder. Note, add this file in another folder can apply the translated units.
    3. Delete this file in the original folder, for example folder A.
    4. All the steps above is operated in the project folder tab. Now please go to the real location of the directory in your computer. Look down into the translation Project files, and delete the source file and bilingual files in the source language directory, for example ..\Project\en-US\A.
5.Copy the source file an bilingual files in the Project source file folder(..\Project\en-US\B) to the original folder (..\Project\en-US\A).
    6. Add the file to the original folder in the project folder tab.
    7. Run the preparing batch task converting this new added file to bilingual file.

Notes: The order of the steps are very important.
