Translation units not adding up to TM in Studio 2017

This is a similar problem to the one I submitted a week or so ago:

Using Studio 2017, in certain projects and with certain TMs, I don’t see the number of translation units adding or changing under Settings of the TM view (neither Project TM nor Main TM).

Yet, the units I’ve confirmed are somewhere in the TM (checked by Concordance Search). This is puzzling me, because it gives me the feeling that the TM is not being populated.

I’ve read somewhere that it would have something to do with Maintenance. But I don’t see concretely what this is and how to solve the problem.

Who can help me find the cause of this problem and solve it?

  • Hi ,

Did you know that the Project TM is only made up of what you are translating at the moment, and anything that was found to be relevant from your Main TM. So the starting point would not be 3678. It could have been 10, or zero, or 1000. Depends on the content of your Main TM.

Why not take a copy of your Main TM (in case you don't want to update it yet) and then run the Update Main TM batch task and see it this increases it. You have said a concordance finds the results in your TM, so this really does point to you just updating your Project TM.

    Regards

  • Hi Paul,
    Thanks for your reply.
I didn't know that the Project TM is only made up of what I'm translating at the moment, so that's new to me.
But the strange thing is that in one project, only the Project TM seems to be updated, whereas in another project both the Project TM and the Main TM counter add up.
Could you please explain to me the steps to follow for that batch task (Update Main TM batch task, as you call it)? I have no experience with batch task and don't really know how to perform them.
I start wondering if it wouldn't be better and easier just to use a Main TM without a Project TM.
    Kind Regards,
