There is no template available.  However, there is a default filetype for XML and like most filetypes in CAT software it will support the extraction of text from any translatable element out of the box.  Attributes are not supported by default, but it's simple for a translator to create a custom XML filetype that can extract translatable text from an attribute too.

I think that if you follow the guidelines here then you won't go far wrong:

On your placeholders, these can be handled but not out of the box.  To handle placeholders like {count} the translator would create a custom XML filetype that handled embedded content and would add a rule using regex to protect the placeholder.  Maybe something like this:

{\d+}
