When editing a new (unconfirmed) segment, the QuickInsert dropdown list only offers placeables from the last confirmed segment and not from the current segment I am working in. Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

Thank you so much for responding to my problem. Here is a screenshot -as you can see, QuickPlace should offer three placeables in the current segment, but offers only the single placeable from the confirmed segment above:
