opening project with mergedSources sdlxliff taking extremely long time

Question

Hello 
 A customer complained that Studio 2017 is taking extremely long to create a studio package. When I wanted to check the project on my computer I was surprised as how long it take to load the sdlxliff and open the editor for the first time (approx 9 minutes) 
 The project consists of 51 XML source files that are merged into single sdlxsliff. 
 After the project was opened in the editor, I decided to create a package and it took some 4-5 minutes. 
 Does anybody have any idea on how to debug this issue. 
 I'm checking the logs but I'm not and expert

Perhaps try preparing the project without embedding the XML files? How large are they (number of segments and filesize)? If you prepare the project without merging the files do you have the same problem? Was a custom filetype used? Are there a lot of elements in the files? 
 
Could be all or some of these things at least... I think. Maybe it'll help and maybe you'll get some other ideas.
